Hen Fest

In support of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospital Charities

The Festival season is well under way and over the summer music fans have a choice of over 50 different festivals available within a short drive of Bournemouth. June sees the return of Hen Fest, and if there was ever any incentive needed to spend a weekend in a field with a whole host of top local bands then Hen Fest provides it. The motive started five years ago when music loving Kate Hennessy (who has cystic fibrosis) could no longer get to her favourite festivals because her health had deteriorated so much.

Kate’s Mother Gail was not going to have her little girl disappointed, so she set up Hen-Fest in their own back garden to keep her beloved daughter entertained. A year later Kate had a lifesaving double lung transplant but the festival continues with the aim of helping others. Its has grown over the years, and now has its new home in the water meadows adjacent to Julianís Bridge in Wimborne. The very passionate Hennessy Family and friends, with Gail Stuart at the helm, have all worked tirelessly to set everything up with the aim of raising much-needed funds for Cystic Fibrosis sufferers and transplant patients.

Last year the festival raised over £11,000 and this year they aim to top that. The festival takes place between 17th-18th June featuring a mouth-watering line up of acts including Discos Out(Murders In), Black Water County, Quinns Quinney, The Trav Cats, Tom Clements, The Drew Allen Band, The Worry Dolls, Will McNichol & Luke Selby, The Darwin’s and many more. Tickets can be purchased from the festivals website here.
