Depth

What we have here is the new 5 track EP from Depth called “Waiting For the Waves”. Formed in Norwich in 2006 they learnt their trade doing cover versions. They have now evolved and are writing their own songs, and have done a fair amount of touring.

, Southampton’s own Dendera, open proceedings and they have progressed immeasurably since I last saw them. The Iron Maiden influence still looms large over their song writing but there is an originality to be found in their set. Good stuff.

Bear Cavary

Bear Cavalry are set to release their brand new EP “Puryss” on November 5th through Alcopop! Records, alongside a 7 date tour into the bargain!

Bear Cavalry, a rapidly emerging 4 piece from the sleepy town of Gosport on the south coast, are no strangers to making waves – and with this four track EP – it looks like a trend set to continue.

EP: “Dream World Of Magic” by Fleeting Circus

Fleeting Circus

Seems to be a alt-rock central round here at the moment. In a vein attmept to keep things local (this is a blatant lie by the way) I have been listening to an EP by a group from Rio de Janeiro (why is it I can only think of Bruce Dickinson with his “Scream For Me Brazil” request? By the way these guys sound nothing like Maiden). But, according to their homepage, are the only band of their kind in Rio.

Hadouken

I am sure that like others, I was worried that once ibar had closed down along with Chords, we would be seeing fewer and fewer hardcore/punk/rock shows in Bournemouth than ever before. Luckily, with the recent turnaround of Sound Circus becoming a part time music venue, local promoter Dom Patience has seized the opportunity to bring alternative live music back to Bournemouth.

CD: “The Dollyrots” by The Dollyrots

The Dollyrots

If you get off on fun, outspoken punk rock with a welcome tinge of pop, then you’d look foolish not to have bumped into The Dollyrots, an eccentric duo from Los Angeles. Despite their youthful outlook, this new self titled album is their fourth record since the band formed in 2009. This year seems to be lining up as their best yet, as their new album was virtually funded by their fans through a Pledge campaign and they also have a UK/US tour with Bowling For Soup set to follow later this year.
