Deadlines

After their debut EP “The First Collapse” sold out all of its hard copies, on their debut UK tour with Swindon giants “I Defy”, Deadlines have every right to approach 2012 with a big grin on their faces. What was next for them? Well luckily they didn’t wait until the New Year to progress their popularity and released their new single “The Road to Whiterun” which gained an impressive 100 plays in only an hour since its release. The Southampton based metalcore band have only been running since May this year, yet they are already shaking the ground of the UK metal scene with their intense live shows and already brilliantly organised sound.

We Used To Exist

We Used To Exist have literally made a continental effort to record their debut album “The Lights May Still Show”, as the indie-pop duo’s members, Timothy Lalonde and Dean Rostron originate from Virginia, USA and Sydney, Australia respectively. Currently residing in Berlin, Germany, the two piece band has only officially been running since September 2011, which is remarkable considering the experienced sound which they produce.

Wembley Arena, London

Def Leppard/Motley Crue

It now seems common place now for a promoter to put two headline bands on at large arenas, in these times of recession is almost makes sense as it gives the fans better value for money and the promoter a better chance of selling out the larger venues. Tonight London’s world famous Wembley Arena plays host to two heavy weights from the world of rock, it is almost like a world title fight England vs. USA.

Champions, Bournemouth

SparkleFest

Putting a gig on anywhere is never easy, but arranging a Charity Festival in the middle of December where none of the acts get paid is a task very few would consider, however local Bournemouth musician Aaron Gregory decided to take on such a task giving all the proceeds of the very worthy Sparkle Appeal. The line up includes a huge amount of talent from in and around the Dorset music scene set over two stages which has never been done before in this venue.

Line Up
Kentucky Fight Club,The Paper Shades, Mischa & His Merry Men, The Luminaries, Andy Stock, Ant Lewis, Ant Henson, Krista Green, Andy Stock, Tim Somerfield, Sugar Hand, Joel Gregory, Kimari Raven, Aaron Gregory

Uriah Heep/Voodoo Vegas

O2 Academy, Bournemouth

Uriah Heep

I came away from tonight’s show wishing that I had grown up in the 70’s, owned a leather jacket and had a perm. Unfortunately, whilst the bands were amazing enough to blow my mind, they didn’t quite have magical powers, so I will just have to dream about those things. Voodoo Vegas kicked off proceedings tonight, in what must have been one of the biggest shows of their career so far. It was good of the promoter to arrange a Bournemouth band to support such mighty rock legends, and Voodoo Vegas stepped up to the plate admirably. I always think that it is pretty much impossible to not like this style of classic rock and within minutes they had my foot tapping. Singer Lawrence Case had a brilliant vocal range and some impressive skills with a harmonica.

Empire Affair

After their storming performance at the “Bandalism” gig at the O2 Academy in Bournemouth earlier this year, Empire Affair are building a solid following around the local music venues in Bournemouth and further a field with further gigs planned in London. The five piece band were who formerly known as “Echo” are tonight gracing the stage of their local public house the “Athlestan”. CD: “Go Fun Yourself” by The Super Happy Fun Club

The Super Happy Fun Club

The Super Happy Fun Club is a six piece rock band from Chicago with a crazy band name, but don’t let this deceive you, as they are potentially the most exciting band to come from 2011. Their debut effort has been critically acclaimed by many websites and magazines after its release this year, and since I discovered the band (while they were touring with Madina Lake), I have been keeping a close eye on their progress.
