The Push

The Push are a four piece Bournemouth band who have been making quite a name for themselves by performing at a whole host of live music venues around the Dorset and Hampshire areas, unlike most local bands just starting out the band have already recorded and released the debut self titled album. The band travelled down the coast to the Ivy Arch studios in Worthing West Sussex www.ivyarchstudios.com where they recorded nine of their own tracks along with a bonus cover of “I Fought The Law” by The Clash. This has all been done and the band are not even a year old yet, you have to give a big thumbs up to their drive and determination.

Champions, Bournemouth

New Town Kings

On a chilled Sunday night when the weather has been poor all day, you wouldn’t really expect there to be much of a buzz in Bournemouth, and to be honest there wasn’t really a buzz as I rocked up to Champions with a few friends. There were only about twenty people in the venue so I was slightly concerned, especially as most of these people were band members.

These guys could have easily jumped in to a Tardis and travelled into 2011 from 1977, a time when Joe Strummer and Johnny Rotten were the kings of the punk music scene. The band clearly wear their influence on their sleeve and are very honest about what they are all about.

Mr Kyps, Poole

20th July 2011

Tonight is one of Kyps ever popular in the round gigs featuring none other than Indie legend & Inspiral Carpets frontman Tom Hingley. Tonight’s opener though is local boy Dan Gordon, a confident singer with a great voice & a clutch decent songs. He quickly reminds us this is 2nd gig here before his first song which I believe is called “Make Time For Me/You” which is followed by The Beatles “Hide Your Love Away”. Dan encourages the crowd to enter his competition to be the first to buy him a beer-Alex (Fearne) duly obliges.
