Bear Cavary

Bear Cavalry are set to release their brand new EP “Puryss” on November 5th through Alcopop! Records, alongside a 7 date tour into the bargain!

Bear Cavalry, a rapidly emerging 4 piece from the sleepy town of Gosport on the south coast, are no strangers to making waves – and with this four track EP – it looks like a trend set to continue.

Classically difficult to pigeonhole, this perfectly formed package, which acts as a taster to the debut album due summer 2013, combines all the intense anthemic musicality of Everything Everything, whilst still retaining the cheekily laid-back charms akin to Vampire Weekend…. Chuck in the odd Field Music-esque breakdown, fuzzing riffs and Foals-y phraseology of vocalist Louis Pinder, and you’ve got something pretty special – and an obvious progression on all that’s come before…

Bear Cavary

Previously championed by the likes of Rocksound who branded them “cheery summery math-rock akin to Foals and Tall Ships”, Edith Bowman and Steve Lamacq… Even Skrillex has got in on the act, loving their off-kilter cover of his hit “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” so much that he used it to in his live sets. Meanwhile, Nick Grimshaw, Annie Mac, Kissy Sell Out, John Kennedy and Tom Robinson have all pledged their allegiance too – not bad for a band only a couple of years in the making.

Bear Cavary

Already having enjoyed a flush festival summer with stand-out shows at the likes of Southsea Festival, Blissfields, Strawberry Fields and a headline show at the 2000 capacity, legendary Razzmatazz Club in Barcelona Bear Cavalry will be ripping up the following venues in October and November…

You can stream The Word “Canoe” from the EP here.

Rocksound – “Bear Cavalry’s music is an optimistic racket, merging math-rock rhythms with danceable sunshine pop.”

Musical Mathematics – “A bold statement of a band simultaneously having and eating their cake – a collection of sun-drenched hits in the making, filled to the brim with both angular guitar lines and unpredictable song structures.”

The Blue Walrus – “A chirpy, sunny disposition with a little jazz-fusion complexity sprinkled around to keep the listener on their toes.”

Pigeons And Planes – “Bear Cavalry are a young and up-and-coming band that I’m happy to be able to tell you about. I’m happy because they are really rather good, and I hope that will make you happy, and then we can all be happy together. Yay.”
