Champions, Bournemouth

Western Sand are a four piece rock band from Bournemouth that are certainly making a few waves in and around the local area with their southern classic rock sound impressing audiences in venues all over the South of England. The band comprise of Findlay Hotchkiss -Bass Guitar, Jimmy Bradshaw – Lead Guitar, Nathan J. Kay – Drums and Tyler Hains – Lead Guitar/Lead Vocals, who are at Champions to film their 1st music video. They also hope to introduce their music to a much larger audience by way of promoting themselves on some music channels such as Scuzz or Lava.

They have drafted in some students from the Bournemouth University arts institute to capture their live performance on video. The stage is set with an elaborate lighting rig ,the ‘Western Sand’ cow skull logo back drop with three video cameras ready to roll.

The band march out of the dressing room with an air of confidence that only comes when playing to a home crowd. As they climb on the stage they get a warm welcome from the gathered fans to see this historic event in the bands short history. The twin guitars reach out and project the glorious sound of classic Rock ‘n’ Roll to every corner of the venue. The songs such as opener ‘Better Days’ and ‘Mama Kin’ radiate influences from the world of rock, with the band putting in a live performance that any band would be proud of.

The moment came for the band to pull out a top class demonstration of their chosen song ‘Back On The Road’, there did not seem to be any last minute nerves they just played as nothing unusual was happening, we all will hopefully see fully edited outcome on a television very soon. The band are now preparing for the release of their debut album ‘Truckload Of Trouble’ which should be out sometime in March, please keep an eye on Rock Regeneration for a review of it soon.
