Bournemouth

The excitement surrounding Musicosity is building on the south coast, as Bournemouth’s newest live music festival gets ready to make its debut from Friday 2nd – Sunday 4th September. Full details of all artists appearing are now announced. The line-up features a diverse range of acts with new and emerging talent alongside established artists. Here are a just a few festival highlights;

Reef – O2 Academy Bournemouth, Saturday 3rd
Following a triumphant return in 2010 and sold out shows across the UK, surf-rockers Reef headline Saturday night playing a set spanning the band’s anthem-filled back catalogue.

Benjamin Francis Leftwich – The Winchester, Sunday 4th
This singer/songwriter really is a must-see. His debut album is sincere and having already receiving rave reviews from the likes of Zane Lowe, Benjamin is destined for big things.

Gideon’s Demise – O2 Academy Bournemouth, Saturday 3rd
In just two years this Southampton band has become a force to be reckoned with. They boast melodies that are unforgettable and anthems that are worthy of filling stadiums.

THePETEBOX – The Old Fire Station, Friday 2nd
THePETEBOX has already wowed judges with his incredible talent and won the Channel 4Talent Award as well as being hailed Radio 1ís Beatboxing Champion. His live performances are more similar to that of a full band and have to be seen to be believed.

Bright Light Bright Light – The Old Fire Station, Friday 2nd
Remixer and multi-instrumentalist Rod Thomas has exploded out of the confines of his bedroom onto the stage in just one year and has been astonishing festival audiences this summer. He counts the Guardian’s New Music columnist, Michael Cragg amongst his fans.

Boxes – The Old Fire Station, Friday 2nd
This indie-electro outfit from London combine contagious melodies and messed up synths, with guitars and punching beats. Check out the video for “Throw Your Stones”.

Let’s Go Safari – The Old Fire Station, Sunday 4th
Bournemouth based duo, Let’s Go Safari throw together electro and pop to produce catchy tracks – listen to “Satellites Have No Conscience” to get to know the boys a bit better.

Christa Vi – The Old Fire Station, Saturday 3rd
The gorgeous tones of Christa Vi will break your heart. Her lyrics are honest and full of emotion, and combined with eclectic instrumentation she produces genre-defying tracks.

The Afterparty – The Old Fire Station, Saturday 3rd
Produced by Matt O’Grady (You Me At Six, Deaf Havana) The Afterparty’s debut single “This Town” is an anthemic slice of hook-laden pop-rock, and the South Coast outfit bring an unrivalled energy to the Musicosity festival line up.

Andy Grant Trio – The Old Fire Station, Sunday 4th
Andy Grant is an innovative singer-songwriter with guitar skills to turn the devil green. Double bassist Simon Rushbrook, and drummer Lee Miller, complete a line up that brings a wide range of influences, from delta blues through jazz and folk.
