2nd March 2013Now plans for an indoor activity centre and zip wire for Bournemouth Pier Theatre have been refused and while lease holders Openwide International consider their options for the future! Local Ska and Reggae promoter Lewis Hawkins aka The Sound Of The Suburbs has seized the opportunity for an all day “2 TONE TASTER” as a pre run up to a three festival 26th ñ 28th July at Wilkswood Farm in the Purbecks.

SKA & REGGAE is now more popular with the masses since my first ever promotion with Desmond Dekker (RIP) a stone throw away in the now defunct Jumpin Jaks almost 10 years ago, we are removing the first 10 rows of chairs in the theatre for some major Skanking! Dj’s will be playing in Key West Restaurant throughout the whole day while in the main Theatre this one day festival will be headlined by Croydon based “The Dualers” a fantastic 9 piece Ska & Reggae band with the Soulful harmonies of Tyber Cranstoun & Pete these guys have shown their worth annually selling out the 02 Indigo in London and supporting Madness on festivals and Christmas Tours over the years!

As part of the seven band support is the first ever gig of The Skanads an all-Ska spin-off band from the legendary Gonads, formed by vocalist and song-writer Garry Bushell (aka Gal Gonad.). The Skanads debut EP, “Skinhead Lullabies is ìa tribute to the memory of my old friend Judge Dread and the spirit of rude reggae” says Gal. It features guest appearances from Jennie Bellestar and skinhead reggae legend Dave Barker of Dave and Ansel Collins Fame. Jennie will be joining us in our debut show on the Pier as she is also the MC & Toaster for the day!

To complete this quality line up are local Skansters Rat Race, from further a field Offbeat Offensive, Mighty Shrimp, The Raptures and last but not least Ska Punk band Dirty Revolution all the way from Cardiff will be performing from 12am – 11pm!
