Hercules Morse

Popular Southampton band “The Blue Screen Of Death” who were seen last supporting “Burn The Fleet” at their final show at the Joiners in Southampton have had a reshuffle and a name change. The reshuffle in the band saw guitarist Pete Davis, leave the band and the then drummer Harry Gardner switch from behind the kit to lead guitar. The drum mantle was taken on by Guillaume “Gizmo” Redonnet-Brown. Following these changes, they thought it was only right to start again with a new project, and in August 2014, Hercules Morse was born.

The band are already quick out of the starting gates with a brand new EP called “Edge Of Life” and a unique video for the lead track “Good Old Days” filmed at the Talking Heads in Southampton starring Eighties icon with the mullet haircut Pat Sharpe. The song takes a reminiscent look at the past with some very clever lyrics detailing memories including David Beckham, Gary Barlow, and Ant & Dec. It is almost like a parent talking to a child running through a list of memories of days gone by.

Hercules Morse continue very much where “The Blue Screen Of Death” left off with twin fast-played Melodic Rock guitars and Steve George’s distinctive vocal delivery. The band have a very hard Rock edge along the lines of Queens of the Stone Age and the Foo Fighters. There are some bone crunching, hard played drums with rib shaking basslines that rock you like no other. However; unlike other Rock bands, “Hercules Morse” have a great sense of fun and really don’t take themselves too seriously. There are always massive smiles on their faces when they perform as they all cleary really enjoy what they do.

The three track EP is a new start for the band continuing the previous good work along with a brand new 1st day at school feel. This is as though the band have just graduated from High School and are making their way up to University. They are using all their knowledge they have gained along the way to move onwards and upwards. The band clearly have a talent for writing great songs and producing music that is worthy of commercial radio play.
