The Anvil, Bournemouth

Poze

On a cold Saturday a near-capacity Anvil awaits the final showdown from Bournemouth’s finest purveyors of Glam-POZE. A crowd made up of friends and fans alike seem a little disappointed there’s no “warm-up” music, but Greg and Co don’t keep us waiting too long. Greg and the band take to the stage and get on with what they do best.

Tonight they feature none other than Agatha’s Garden guitarist Dean Scholey. Soundman for the night is also a Scholey – son Adam! The set begins with a few originals before Greg and Co. lighten the mood with some carefully chosen innuendos, banter and jokes. No subject is off limits but no-one is offended. Anyway, back to the music. Some good covers are aired, most notably a great version of “Roll Away The Stone” and “Paranoid”.

Looking at Poze up this close and personal it’s as if they’ve never been away. It’s hard to believe they haven’t been playing for some years. Having been at the reunion at the now defunct Champions it’s hard to believe this may be the final hurrah. The second set sees a drummer changeover but there’s no let-up. During the second set there’s more of the same (covers and originals).

It’s towards the end of their set the band decide to plug their new website-a strange move for a band (supposedly) calling it a day. Anyway, I have mislaid my flyer so cant plug it either way! Suffice to say the band’s music is that much more accessible now (if you only know where to look)! A quick dig around on FaceBook has unearthed Poze The Wall Of Shame which has all the links one needs. This may be the final gig but I for one think this isn’t the end of the story-we shall see!
