Palms And Pelicans

South Cost Dream-pop quartet Palms and Pelicans have recently released their brand new E.P “Glowing” following on from their previous releases “Float” and “Sungaze” EP’s. With this recording the band has been jetting from their homes in Hampshire up north to a Newcastle music studio to record the 5 track EP, working closely with highly rated music producer Anth Snowdon. The EP was released to a sold out crowd at one of Southampton’s newest music venues “Heartbreakers”. The band’s hard work has gained them a solid local following along with radio airplay on BBC Introducing and BBC 6 Music.

The EP opens with “Evaporate” featuring the band’s ever-evolving guitar sounds with shimmering atmospheric fuzzed guitar effects over cascading vocals coupled with hard hitting drums and stirring basslines. Next Up is “Glowing” a free-flowing dreamy piece of work that features some lovely McKinnon/Lawrence harmonies as well as some impressive guitar sound shaping. The next track is the previously released “Drowzy” and can also be found on a well-shot video produced/directed by Jake Ringsell. The video features some vibrant autumnal scene which fits perfectly with this well put together tune.

Palms And Pelicans

“Lanterns” is possibly one of the best tunes to ever come out from “Palms and Pelicans”, here clearly Anth Snowdon has clearly got the best from the band. The vocals are nothing short of exceptional with Mattéa sounding absolutely divine backed with some really impressive delicately played guitars. This collection ends with “Comfortable” and this time it’s Jack’s turn to show us his vocal talents which really shine, the tune also really benefits from some nicely put together infectious rhythms along with yet more stirring guitar parts. The McKinnon/Lawrence song-writing partnership continues its momentum here with some really strong material that continues to impress. The band continue to impress and fingers-crossed it should not be long before the band get the success they deserve.
