Charity Single for War Child

Released on the eve of what would be her Father’s 64th birthday, Singer/songwriter Kirsten Adamson has recorded her own version of the Big Country classic “Peace in Our Time” which was ironically once played live at the Soviet Embassy in Russia in 1988. The track is being released to raise funds for War Child’s emergency appeal. They are currently working directly with children who are living through terrifying conflicts, offering them safe spaces and delivering life-changing services and support. By supporting this single you will be making a difference to thousands of children whose lives have been turned upside down by conflict. You’ll be helping War Child provide the emergency care and support they need to overcome the emotional and physical toll of conflict, as well as access to services to catch up on lost education that will help to transform their futures for the better.

Kirsten explains “feeling helpless and overcome with sadness I wanted to raise money to help these children in any way I could. I put a call for action on my social media pages and was overwhelmed by the response from people to help out and take part in the release”. Kirsten who sang backing vocals on Big Country’s final album “Driving To Damascus” when she was just 13 years old; has since made her own way in the music industry performing with Indie/Folkers “Aberfeldy”, fronting Country rockers “The Gillyflowers” and playing as part of Alt/Country duo “The Marriage”. The singer is now gearing up for the release of her debut solo album in the winter after a string of well-received releases including the wondrously haunting 2020 single “Let Me Live”.

With her unique-sounding vocal Kirsten takes her Father’s lyrics and passionately delivers them with her mellifluous voice in her own mellow laid-back style. The track is bolstered with some fine musicianship from the collected players who all impress, along with the glorious uplifting backing vocals. The video for the song quite rightly puts children in the spotlight as they poignantly mime the words to the song asking for “Peace in our time”. The track does the Adamson legacy proud and one I’m sure that the late great Stuart would have more than approved of.

The Track is released on Monday 11th April 2022 and can be purchased here.
