Petit-Déjeuner, Frühstück, Colazione, Café da Manhã, Morgenmad, Desayuno are all words in different languages for the first meal of the day – “Breakfast”. It is also the name of the brand new single by Dorset supremo Chris Payn, who follows up his recent previous single “Pow Pow Pow Pow”. With the new single Chris serves up one of his best offerings to date, it’s as tasty as a stack of all American pancakes smothered is maple syrup and whipped cream!
Chris has regrouped with his band called The Parade and is going out on tour in October/November with dates in Southampton, Oxford, Exeter and Winchester. If his recent display at the Teddy Rocks Festival is anything to go by, ticketholders will certainly be in for a real treat. With an arsenal of anthemic original songs and a band of top class musicians, each night will certainly be something to savour.

The new track has been previewed just a couple of times at his live shows and is one of the most catchy yet. The track has an accompanying video, set in a local café and co-stars a host of Chris’s most loyal fans. The recording also features an Easter Egg as a continuation of the story from his previous video filmed at the Three Compasses Pub in Dorchester, have a look and see if you can spot it?
The track opens with a feast of infectious keyboards, before the melodic guitars join in and then Chris’s considerable voice takes centre stage. The keys continue while the chorus grabs you in a strangle hold and won’t let you forget what you have heard. There are a host of old and new influences with Chris using his creative abilities to reach parts of the Breakfast bowl that other musicians fail to reach. It’s as smooth as hot butter on toast and one that might make you choke on your cornflakes!
