Usually found fronting Dorset Rock band The Samurais, frontman Neil Sexton has gone somewhat under the radar to put out a trio of impressive solo singles “Night Owl”, “What’s On Your Stereo” and “Ordinary People” which can all be found on Spotify for your listening pleasure. This month sees the release of a new offering called “Falter”, the track was put together at HP Studios in Ringwood with the help of its resident engineers/producers Jamie Jordan Eldridge and head honcho Harrison Perks. The track also features Ear Candy’s Jamie on Guitar, Bass and Piano with former Black Water County/Skinny Knowledge/Bad Magic member Andy Smooth on drums with Neil on Guitar and Lead Vocals.

Song creator Neil explains “it is a song about making a statement of strength in the face of adversity. The track was written when I was going through a tough time dealing with a personal battle with an ex-partner. It is about the realisation that the person you were with is not who you thought they were. It is my message that I won’t be bullied, and I won’t give up”.

The song opens with a broodily moody tone, slowly meandering before the track starts to build with subtle rhythms and atmospheric guitars, backing Neil’s clearly defined vocal that delivers the personally written words in a resilient way. The resplendent guitar solo is something to really enjoy and one that matches the sombre tone with the lyrics providing an uplifting light coming from within the emotive pain. A great tune with many notable parts to enjoy and one that shows some excellent creative abilities from Neil and his chosen musicians.
