News: “Halloween Party” Album Release by Nick Capaldi

The award-winning Dorset singer-songwriter brings a fresh musical twist to Halloween with a genre-spanning collection of original songs, released through Grinning Dog Records. Forget the usual Halloween playlist. Nick Capaldi is throwing a musical party of his own with Nick Capaldi’s Halloween Party, an album of entirely original Halloween songs, which was preceded by the release of the single ‘Pumpkin Pickin’, offering a fresh collection of original music inspired by the season of pumpkins, costumes, mischief and things that go bump in the night. A CD edition is also planned, with its release date to be confirmed. Blending a variety of musical styles, Nick Capaldi’s Halloween Party takes a different approach to seasonal music. Rather than relying on familiar Halloween classics or reworked hits, Nick has created a collection of original songs designed to give Halloween a soundtrack of its own.

The first taste of the album comes with ‘Pumpkin Pickin’, inviting listeners to get into the Halloween spirit with a brand-new song created for the occasion. The project follows Nick’s 2024 release, 12 Christmas Kisses, an all-original 12-song Christmas album featuring guest artists Aled Jones, Sam Brown and Louise Marshall. The album demonstrated Nick’s enthusiasm for creating original music around a seasonal theme — and now, having tackled Christmas, he is turning his
attention to Halloween. Nick is an award-winning songwriter whose debut single, ‘In My Shoes’, reached number one on Amazon’s Hot New Release list within a week of release, remaining in the Top 20 Best Selling New Releases for five weeks. His album You and All the Seasons has won three awards, including Best Recorded Work at the OMAs in 2023, and was longlisted for the Music Producers Guild’s Best Album award in 2024.

The new album Halloween Party, Nick continues to explore the possibilities of original seasonal music, bringing together his love of song writing and a celebration that offers endless scope for musical imagination. Christmas has its songs. Now Halloween gets its very own party album.

The album is Nick’s most adventurous project to date, completed in just over two months. When Nick gets an idea in his head, he keeps going until it’s finished, and this latest creation is a testament to his determination and boundless imagination. Once again, he enlisted the help of his wife, Grace, alongside a large cast of friends, including his nephew Saul Coghlan on bass. The album was recorded and mixed by Jamie Parker before being mastered by Geoff Pesche at the prestigious Abbey Road Studios in London.

Adding another dimension to the project, every track on the album features either a graphics-driven video or a short film to accompany the music. The most ambitious of these is *Dracula’s New Teeth*, featuring Mark Greening as Dracula, Peter Langdown as Lester Monty, and the very cute Montgomery Bo III as Dracula’s dog. Filmed entirely on location at Wolfeton House in Charminster, Dorchester, Dorset, the production captures the atmospheric setting perfectly, providing an ideal backdrop to complement the song.

The album brings together a wonderfully diverse range of imaginations, offering a fresh and original twist on the Halloween theme. Only a handful of artists have ventured into releasing an entirely original Halloween album, making this a welcome alternative to the familiar seasonal songs that tend to be rolled out year after year. Packed with Nick’s trademark quirky humour, the collection is entertaining, imaginative and suitable for listeners of all ages.

The lead track, *Pumpkin Pickin’*, has an infectious quality that makes it almost impossible to forget once you’ve heard it. However, there is much more to discover beyond this catchy introduction, with the remaining tracks showcasing a songwriter whose creativity continues to flourish and whose imagination seemingly knows no bounds. This is Halloween music with a personality of its own, delivering a refreshing blend of originality, humour and musical adventure.
