Following a sell-out return last month, the Live & Unheard showcase for original music talent is back at Lighthouse, Pooleís centre for the arts, on Wednesday 6 March with three more great acts.

The line up is headlined by Bournemouth-based folk-inspired jazz-infused indie rockers Hello Hawaii. Formed in 2009 and fronted by Wesley Bennett, the band have released three studio albums and there is another on its way. They offer a fresh and innovative sound in a plethora of songs that range from ballads to upbeat 60s-style belters.

Hello Hawaii

The irrepressible Si Genaro is a long-standing fixture on the local live music scene. A songwriter and acoustic performer who plays uptempo songs and ballads, he tells the odd joke and has been known to break out a little harmonica or beatbox. Si found notoriety on the BBC’s The Voice two years running and has toured with David Essex – he’s even worked for the Dalai Lama and styles himself as the nutty, lovable idiot you can enjoy between or during meals without ruining your appetite!

The bill is completed by fourteen-year-old singer-songwriter Taya Minchington who appeared at last year’s Beautiful Days festival organised by The Levellers and cut her teeth in the studio to release the “Dragon’s Eyes” EP co-produced with Matt Black at Hangover Hill, the local studio and music hub that has partnered with Lighthouse in Live & Unheard to give emerging artists a platform.

Hangover Hill are inviting bands and artists interested in performing to contact the studio at hangoverhill@gmail.com.

Live & Unheard is a fantastic addition to the local music scene and if the quality of music continues, hopefully it will flourish into something that will grow substantially. In the coming months the following acts are booked to play…

Live & Unheard will return on the first Wednesday of each month
Wednesday 3rd April – We Are Robot + Soulcreek + Issy Whitlock
Wednesday 1st May – 27 Days + Robert Lowe + Creeke
Wednesday 5th June – Helena Mace + Marky Dawson + Edd Bleach
Wednesday 3rd July – Barefoot Soul + Jade Norris
