Jemima are a new ska/pop/funk duo featuring Jemma Marshall and Jordan Digby, who met in Bristol at the BIMM institute where their paths crossed while studying music. In a funny coincidence they actually later found that they are both originally from Dorset where Jordan fronts a popular pop/funk band Soulhole. In March the duo is releasing their debut single called Ska Train; which will eventually feature on a four-track EP of the same name, which will be released as various singles throughout the year. The song was inspired by picking up a friend whoís been feeling down and taking them on a crazy adventure to cheer them up. Jordan stated, “the thought of taking them away from their troubles and giving them a fun carefree time is just so liberating”. The duo share collective inspirations from artists such as Matt Corby, Tash Sultana, Bare Jams and many others.

In January 2019 Jordan and Jemma became Open Mic UK finalists and competed in the final at the O2, gaining much positive music industry attention. (see Video Below)

The single was created in the spare room of their house; with Jordan playing guitar, bass, saxophone, and vocals with Jemma on lead vocals, playing drum pad and percussion – this whole effect can be looped especially for live performances. The tune is a refreshing slice of emerging youth discovery, with a host of musical influences colliding together to create something really unique. The duo’s vocals combine together beautifully while their obvious skills as musicians bring a host of infectious textures for the ear to enjoy. Kicking off with the union of electric and acoustic guitars, meandering gently before beats kick in with some generous harmonization and some unexpected saxophone joining the party part way through. These two young aspiring musicians have concurrently brought all their notable skills together here with a fantastic tune that shows so much potential, making it hard to be patient for their next releases.
