Glen Matlock

One of the most iconic figures in music is Glen Matlock, founding member, and songwriter of the Sex Pistols. His tunes such as “Pretty Vacant” and “God Save The Queen” have influenced and changed British culture. His time with the Sex Pistols is only a fraction of his legacy. He was a founder member of new wave pop act the Rich Kids featuring future Ultravox members Midge Ure and Rusty Egan.

Matlock then went on to tour record with Iggy Pop and played in a supergroup called Dead Men Walking featuring Mike Peters of The Alarm. He also formed his own band The Philistines and released an acclaimed solo single on Alan McGee’s Creation Records.

Glen has this month released his new single “Sexy Beast”, which is taken from the latest album ‘Good to Go’. The song was recorded by Grammy Award-winning producer/engineer Mario McNulty (David Bowie, Prince); in up-state New Yorkís “Rhinebeck Clubhouse Studios” and features Earl Slick on guitar, as well as Jim Lowe on bass and Slim Jim Phantom from US rockabilly band Stray Cats on drums. The song is an infectious three and a half minutes of pure no-frills rock ëní roll. With Matlock’s powerful vocal delivery and Slim Jim Phantom’s unmistakeable foot tapping 50’s rhythms, the song positively bounces along with its impressive guitar work. I have nothing but unreserved admiration for Matlock who after all these years can produce a tower of a tune like this.
