Northampton rock quartet Empyre is thrilled to announce the release of the brand new single “You Know My Name” on 6th March 2020. You Know My Name is Empyre’s own interpretation of the original James Bond movie Casino Royale theme song written by Chris Cornell and David Arnold. “You Know My Name” is more than a cover, it is passionate, heartfelt tribute to one of the best voices of our time and it takes new life through Henrik’s intense performance.

Frontman Henrik, comments: “This cover is simply a combination of two of my favourite things: James Bond and Seattle Grunge. I’ve been a James Bond fan since I was 8 years old, I’ve seen all the films, read all the books, and I even had a CD rack of the soundtracks and assorted versions of Bond music in my bedroom. Seattle grunge in the 90s and in particular the vocalists Eddie Vedder and Chris Cornell inspired me to start singing. So back in 2006 when they finally got to make the first book of the James Bond series Casino Royale into a film and Chris Cornell performed the theme song you can perhaps imagine how elated I was. However, oddly, it wasn’t even my idea to cover this song, it was our old drummer Jack’s. Now with us having finished with the releases from ‘Self Aware’, the imminent arrival of new music from Empyre and a new Bond film coming out it seemed the perfect time to release this. It’s our tribute to James Bond and of course to the great Chris Cornell.”

‘You Know My Name’ follows an extremely successful 2019, which saw the band releasing the critically acclaimed and truly accomplished debut album Self Aware, a collection of 11 “all killer no filler” tracks, showcasing a band with skillful songwriting and a uniquely distinguishable sound. Heralded by Planet Rock as “Ones To Watch” and singled-out with a “High Hopes” feature by Classic Rock Magazine, EMPYRE’s sound really takes flight on stage… in the words of Kerrang! “EMPYRE sound slick, vast and like the music was written with the help of an architectural blueprint for an arena”, as such, the band just confirmed a series of dates across the UK throughout 2020.
