Single: “Imagination” by Skinny Knowledge

Bursting at the seams with a host of credible influences and positive uplifting vibes are new Bournemouth band Skinny Knowledge. The band was formed by Andy L Smooth, a multi-talented all-round musician who has performed in a host of local bands including Black Water County, Colt 45 (also known as Walk The Night & Bad Magic) and he is also a regular solo performer on the local music circuit. Andy originally wrote and recorded his first home demo for this project in early September 2019. He has since gone on to and record every part of the full length, 14 track debut album, which is set for an early 2021 release. His band features a host of top hand-picked, accomplished musicians including Benjamin Parker (Soul Creek/Tarraska) on Guitar, Thomas ‘Fenge’ Davies on bass, and Charlie Kenny on drums completing the line-up.

“Imagination” and the rest of the new album was put together with the help of Lewis Johns, at The Ranch Production House in Hampshire. It was written by Andy L Smooth, together with help from long-time friend/bandmate Russ Scagell (Black Water County/Colt 45). Andy explains “it is the story of anticipation and hope. The tale is told through an awkward, movie-like bar scene; and touches on the subject of courage, but also fear. The ‘should I, shouldn’t I’ scenario that we all know too well”. The track is a high-octane, Punk-inspired anthem that encapsulates the traditional elements of “Rock ‘n Roll”, with a thoroughly energetic core. It sounds like a cross between the Foo Fighters and Green Day, which makes sense as they are two of Andy’s favourite bands. This is the type of music that Andy has always wanted to make, now free of the constraints of his other bands he is able to produce something that he has always wanted to. The new track certainly has a wide-ranging appeal and it is the shot of adrenaline we all need in these troubled times.
