Bournemouth Grunge-infused Alternative/Rock band Solcura have been drip feeding the music hungry public with tracks from their forthcoming 5 track EP “A Eulogy for Wasted Time” The band describe it as “a rage fuelled ode for the age, a sonnet to the modern malaise featuring five uncompromising; angst filled, genre-blending songs combining anthemic vocals with progressive structures and face melting riffs”.

The fifth track to complete this collection called “Panacea” is finally released on 28th July, joining the four other previously released tracks. The tune was once again recorded and self-produced by the band, then mixed and mastered by the expert hand of Paul Visser of “The Recording Studio London” and player in UK Prog/Metal band “Black Orchid Empire”. The band promised this material to be their heaviest and darkest to date and they have delivered an uncompromising collection that shows they are not afraid of pushing boundaries and breaking down walls to get the sound that they have envisaged.

With “Panacea” they have undoubtedly saved the best ’til last, like with some of their other tracks they initially lead you falsely down a subtle more sedate path before delivering the hammer blows of guitar, bass and drums; which take pot shots at your senses with some lyrically compelling words that delve deep in falsification and bold boasting solutions. There is a real progressive feel to the track with many melancholic twists and turns. The formidable despondency as Harry sings “Look at Me Know” radiates powerfully over the top of the atmospheric soundtrack that smoulders with an air of malaise.

It’s certainly a fascinating journey that these guys have taken from their debut album “Serotonin” released in 2021, to this latest EP. It’s great to see a band evolving and developing, they have plenty of influences from the world of Alternative Rock and I’m sure when listening to their material you will hear that; though there is no mimicry as the band clearly have a desire to create their own individual sound and keep pushing themselves into further advancement. These five songs have certainly impressed me beyond expectation and the evolution of this band is certainly something worth keeping a close eye on.
