Bournemouth band SOS (formerly Saints of Sin) are back and they’ve had a bit of a makeover! The dynamic foursome have changed their name from Saints of Sin to the abbreviated “SOS” and their first SOS-branded single “With U” is released this month. The single is accompanied by a music video, filmed in the very picturesque New Forest. The track acts as a celebration for the first Anniversary since vocalist JV joined the band, replacing the much loved Rui. JV arrived from his former band “Capulus” and was an instant hit with the fans, his powerful vocal and energetic demeanour provided some excellent momentum for the band.
Guitarist Sparxx explains: “we originally formed as Saints of Sin back in 2013 but me, Ash and Josh have been playing music together since we were at school. We’ve had a few subtle line-up changes since we first started but the three of us are still going strong! Over the years our sound has evolved and changed, and with JV taking over the vocals we felt it was time for a rebrand to reflect all that. We’ll always be a Rock band at heart but its been so liberating to tear up the rule book and bring our many diverse influences to the table and create a sound that we feel is totally unique. So far our audience is loving it!”
The new single “With U” has already gained itself airplay on BBC Introducing South West and Hope FM with a number of other radio stations already having play-listed it. The track shows the band’s continued evolution with a refreshingly modern style that takes influences from a host of different areas, giving the band a real unique sound. You cannot fault the rhythm section who create that wonderful infectious base to the track; while Sparxx’s uplifting guitar riffs, combining snyths create the melodic sustenance. JV’s vocal modestly powers over the top with some magnificently delivered, heartfelt lyrics.
The band are to play at a number of events over the Summer including this weekend’s Poole Harbour Festival, Upton House Food & Drink Festival and in September they’ll be off to Germany to play their first overseas festival – The Indoor Summer Festival in Hamburg, so plenty of opportunity to experience those ‘all round good vibes’ live.
