South Coast four piece The Lonely Surf has their last material out in 2020 in the form of the ‘Shifting’ EP. They are currently preparing to release what is being touted as their strongest material to date. The band Comprise of founding singer songwriters, Dom Wright and Matt Gibbons, alongside the returning George Fullerton on the drums and new recruit Daniel Mundy on bass, the band are set for a busy year.

With their melancholic overtones sealed within infectious hooks are a trademark of the band that have gained them acclaim from mainstream media outlets (including BBC Introducing, Kerrang and Amazing Radio) and over 800,000 streams online. The new track called “12 Months Out” is released on 11th August on Disconnect Disconnect Records, an independent, UK-based punk rock label and it got its inspiration during the lockdown period.

The Lonely Surf

The Lonely Surf have graced major festivals including BBC Introducing Live, Teddy Rocks, Gold Coast Oceanfest; they have toured with Ducking Punches and The Deadnotes, as well as shared a stage with the likes of The Beths, Trash Boat and This Wild Life. Their brand of indie punk has certainly evolved over the years, with “12 Months Out” providing a great example of Wright’s ability to captivate the listener with instantly memorable lyricism and Gibbons’s soaring guitar melodies.

Strong influences of The Menzingers, The Wombats and Bruce Springsteen are evident in a record which boasts an infectious chorus, playful indie beats and stadium-sized chords. The single was recorded at The Ranch Production House with Daly George in Southampton, where bands such as Creeper and The Winter Passing have captured their sound.
