Single: “Addicted To You” by Kretinz
Dorset garage-punk trio Kretinz have released their debut single, Addicted To You, the first track to be taken from their forthcoming debut album, Wish You Were Here. The band have teamed up with NBQ Records, a grassroots DIY label recently established by The Mistakes and members of the local music community.
Blending melodic, riff-driven rock ‘n’ roll chaos with a DIY punk spirit, Kretinz consist of Al Coleman (formerly of The Kretinz and Die IV You) on vocals and bass, Dan Kennedy on guitar and vocals, and Harry Boucher on drums. The single, along with the rest of the album, was recorded at drummer Harry Boucher’s studio.

The band describe their sound as a mix of catchy hooks, punchy guitars and tongue-in-cheek energy, with songs that tackle love, life, injustice and absurdity. Loud, melodic and never taking themselves too seriously, they are, by their own admission, a trio of musical “Kretinz”.
Frontman Al Coleman explains the inspiration behind the single:
“The song was written after my wife requested a love song. I came up with the speed-punk ballad I Love Your Boobs, but apparently that wasn’t quite what she was after. So I then came up with Addicted To You instead.”
Clocking in at just 2 minutes and 14 seconds, Addicted To You is a short, sharp burst of energy. Fast tempos, infectious rhythms and melodic guitar flourishes combine to create an instantly memorable punk-rock anthem. Al’s raw vocal performance serenades his better half with charmingly crafted lyrics, delivered with a knowing hint of sarcasm. Yet beneath the humour lies a genuine sense of affection, making the track both entertaining and surprisingly heartfelt.
With its blend of speed, melody and personality, Addicted To You offers an exciting first taste of what listeners can expect from Wish You Were Here and marks a promising debut from one of Dorset’s latest DIY punk outfits.
