The Anvil, Bournemouth

Viking Skull

It’s hot in Bournemouth, 26 degrees all day without a cloud in the sky. So what do 100 metal heads decide to do? Spend 4 hours in a basement listening to some killer bands and drinking themselves silly. It was also assistant manager/Anvil promoter Bear’s Birthday. So take on water you’re gonna need it!

Pump Action Radio

Sometimes we take our local music scene for granted, and we donít realise that there are bands out there which have been working hard as a unit for longer than you would think. Pump Action Radio fall under this label, as the local four piece, energetic pop rock band have been producing music and playing shows for the last four years. In this time, they have proved their relentless enthusiasm for blasting out their ever growing collection of eccentric punk anthems tinged with pop driven fragments.

Sonny Landreth

Sonny Landreth has just released a new album. Who? Well that’s what I thought when the small blue cardboard slip case slid out of the envelope into my hand. Okay, from the blurb he is not exactly local (how far is Cornwall from Louisiana?). But this is his 11th album, and after a quick trawl of the internet it appears that this chap is one hell of a blues musician.

Weymouth Pavillion

Rise To Remain

Hourglass Promotions continues to work relentlessly to bring the previously neglected music scene of Weymouth some of the best acts on the UK circuit to date. Following bookings of the likes of Hadouken, Funeral for a Friend, InMe and various reputable smaller shows, it was the turn of UK metal uprisers, Rise To Remain to grace the brand new venue setup at Weymouth Pavilion. The sectioned off area of the Ocean Rooms makes the venue slightly bigger than the Crow’s Nest (upstairs) which was used for previous shows, along with the pleasing feature of the doors being left open to allow the sea air to flow through the room.
