Fighting Tyler

Southampton alternative rock band, Fighting Tyler, have produced a new EP, “Plastic Hearts and Rubber Bullets”. And wow. Just wow. A collection of five tracks and an interlude may not sound like much, but that’s all this quintet need to impress and amaze.

CD: “The End” by The Ghosts

The Ghosts

I have been sat on this CD for a few weeks now. It’s been played, and it’s been considered. The Ghosts have produced a debut album that is layered and complex, in a number of ways. But is also, and not wanting to contradict myself, is also simple and effective without being pretentious.

This Fall

“Teddy 20” is a recently established charity raising money for children with cancer, and tonight their noble dedication to their charity involved a night of local bands playing live to help raise awareness and take donations, instead of charging for entry. Headlining the night was Weymouth post hardcore outfit This Fall, who recently released their EP “Mechanical Hearts” which has gained exposure in the nationally renowned Rock Sound magazine and has also received praise from promoters and fans across the country.

Blazin Aces

As the clock hit 20:30 Blazin’ Aces hit the stage with both barrels blazing! With a barrage of drums and bass making you stand up and pay attention! They certainly had a small force of fans in attendance that enjoyed their set. Formed in February 2012 by the members of Shadowkey after deciding to finish Shadowkey but keep some of the songs and work on opening up their musical style to all things that they love.

griever

A new Post Hardcore/Metal band from Poole in Dorset has recently been brought to our attention, they are called “Griever”. The have been together for around eight months and have been holed up at a secret location in Dorset shaping their sound and perfecting a short set of songs ready to go out and play live. The fruits of their hard work is their 1st single “Ascension” which combines twin guitars with screamo style vocals along with clean vocals to give a 2:53 of passionate powerful post hardcore metal, for a 1st single it is a really good effort and gives them a positive way forward for the future.

East Island City

Just as I thought the weather was going to be tropical in an abstract March, my holiday to Suffolk witnessed a plague of poor weather and rain, so thank God for pop rock outfit, East Island City’s EP popping through my letter box! This sunny Dublin outfit should surely brighten up this tragic forecast, right? This being said, they are no strangers to success as their free debut EP reached an impressive 15,000 downloads and have supported the likes of Twin Atlantic, My Passion and Framing Hanley.

Lostprophets

It’s been a quiet two years since Welsh rockers Lostprophets released The Betrayed regarding new stuff, and everyone has been full of excitement and curiosity to see what Lostprophets are pulling out the bag this time around with their new album, Weapons. With the huge wait and everything being put on a huge pedestal of expectations and hopes, the question everyone wants to know is did it stay up with the expectations or crash and burn?
