Rock Regeneration 1st Birthday Bash

Rock Regeneration

Would you believe it Rock Regeneration opened our doors to the world on 1st March 2010, as we are coming up to our 1st Birthday we thought that there was no better excuse to have a party to celebrate at Mr. Kyps on the 1st March. We have carefully selected four great local bands that we sincerely think would make for one great night, Lady Winwood’s Maggot, The Frequency, Peace Love & Gloves and Empire Affair. We hope that all our readers can come along and celebrate with the ever expanding Rock Regeneration team. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the venues, promoters, artists and readers that have supported our website over the last year as without your help none of it would have been possible.

Peter and The Test Tube Babies/C-30’s/Toxic Fruit Cake

Peter and the Test Tube Babies

It’s cold, its Thursday night, and its Punk night. Opening up tonight are Blandford based Punk covers outfit Toxic Fruit Cake who I’m reliably informed are playing only their 3rd gig. They waste no time launching straight into the Sex Pistols ‘Bodies’. The vocals are harsh, and not particularly Punky but they don’t disappoint with a set culled from their extensive Punk back catalogue. The Levellers even get the “Toxic treatment” with some prominent guitar work on “15 Years” and all in all its a great set from these guys who end with an Oi cover in the shape of “Drinkin’ and Drivin” by The Business.

This Is Freedom

So whilst 20,000 feet in the air on my way to Amsterdam, I got my ears around This Is Freedom’s debut EP ‘Welcome Home’, which has been work in progress since early 2010 with reputable producer Frankie Torpey. The band recently faced high profile exposure from Kerrang magazine after their feature described the band to have the atmospherics of 30 Seconds To Mars, which is an analogy worth shouting about. They also managed to sneak several plays of their tracks onto critically acclaimed comedy ‘Fresh Meat’ and have shared the stage with the liked of Futures, Lower Than Atlantis, and Paige.

Champions, Bournemouth

Pump Action Radio

Champions have very sadly recently announced that they will close at the end of February so Bournemouth’s live music fans are making the most of the final few gigs here. Tonight’s billing has changed from advertised, as 2 bands have pulled out for various reasons, so with the promoter thinking on his feet has upgraded Bournemouth’s Pump Action Radio to headliner and the previous evening’s headliners “Draw Me Ugly” have agreed to open the show.

Disco's Out, Murder's In

It’s the night before New Years Eve and Disco’s Out,(Murder’s In) are the support act for Nuttyness, the premier tribute to Madness. As usual for DOMI they turn up on stage in costume. Anyone who has been to a DOMI show will know this is standard fare for the band. Take nothing away from them though, they also have a clutch of good tunes.
