Empire Affair

Bournemouths’ “Empire Affair” release their follow up to debut EP “Red Light” in August. The EP is once again a four track, but this time though the guys have really pushed themselves to deliver something quite special. Okay, maybe I am a little bias as I have followed the band’s career since they changed their name from “Echo”, where they all came of age and matured into the great band that they are today. Empire Affair have always been about the live performance each time they always seem to aim to be better than the last.

They like to push boundaries and provide maximum entertainment to their audience. From the 1st track to the last the music on “Sparks In The Dark” is something that won’t let you go, it grabs you and keeps your attention and retains you with each guitar hook and each memorable chorus.

“Can’t get Through” starts in a rather dark sinister way with Neil’s slightly menacing vocals, then the searing uplifting guitar melodies kick in and the song then turns on its head. “Tornadoes” is a beautifully crafted song takes you headlong into an infectious opening that you will remember for a long time and it will have you singing along within an instant. “One Night In Munich” has an infectious guitar rift that any top band would be more than proud of, an anthem that would really uplift any crowd at a festival when the band are at full pelt.

Empire Affair

“Sunrise” ends the short journey very nicely at a slower pace but shows that band has versatility within their creation, there is no let up in quality with once again the guitars and vocals delivering on all levels. The five members of Empire Affair have created something here that they can all be very proud, four songs that I am sure can easily stand the test of time, go out and buy this EP, most of all once you have bought go and see the band live, it will be an experience that will thrill and exhilarate, one you won’t forget in a hurry!!
