Salisbury lass Isobel Thatcher has released her brand new 5 Debut track EP “Keeping On”, the EP was recorded at Wedgwood Studios in Denmark with additional musicians Hendrick Skriver(Guitar), Eddi Jari(Drums), Tom Thatcher (guitars), Michael Wedgwood (bass), and Tom Wedgwood of Curved Air/Caravan(Guitar). At just 20 years old Isobel not only writes and performs her own original solo material, she also performs regularly with live bands, the “Tom Clements House Band”, and also made several appearances with “Stan’s Blues Jam Band”.

Isobel wrote her first song “Beautiful Boy” in 2009, but her very first live performance was at the tender age of just 9 at the Salisbury Blues Jam where she played an alto saxophone. Over the last 2 years Isobel has performed at over 130 gigs all over the South West Of England as well as performing in front of 2000 people at London’s prestigious Shepherd’s Bush Empire. In 2012 she won the Tech Music School song writers competition with their song of the year “I Won’t” which can be found as track 3 on the debut EP.

The EP open’s with “Drink The Water” a soulful bluesy number which shows off Isobel’s beautifully harmonious voice at it’s best. The song effortlessly floats along with simple but effective backing. Unlike many EP’s that land on our review desk this has been professionally recorded with some excellent production which really benefit these songs well. With further songs like “Keeping On” and the melancholic “Lonely” providing some top class song writing, this EP for a debut is something quite special and should put Isobel on the road to hopefully a larger audience and eventually stardom. With a musical CV longer that most experienced musicians Isobel’s future looks very bright. Keep an eye on her web pages for her live appearances as she is certainly somebody well worth checking out.
