Absolute Music

Local music superstore, Absolute Music, offers more than £20,000 in prizes to musicians to celebrate the 5th anniversary of their superstore. Throughout October Absolute Music will be celebrating 5 years of being in their Knighton Heath superstore by holding more seminars, workshops, in-store only promotions and competitions than you can shake a maraca at. The current prize fund stands at more than £20,000 with goodies from the biggest brands in guitars, drums, keyboards, live sound, recording and music tech up for grabs.

Each week of October there will be a special spotlight on each of the departments of Absolute Music, starting with Guitar Week (1st – 8th), followed by Drums Week (9th – 15th), then Hi Tech Week (16th – 22nd) and ending with Performance Week (23rd – 31st). On each Saturday there will be an Expo day where the store will be filled with product specialists from the brands who will be demonstrating products, running seminars and giving away bags of freebies. There will also be lots of in-store only discounts that are so keen they cannot be publicly advertised!

Running alongside all of this will be 4 national competitions including the Best Guitar Solo over a backing track (with prizes from Fender, Line6 and Boss up for grabs), a One Minute Drum Solo competition (1st prize is a Premier snare drum) and a Best Original Song competition judged by Ray Dorset (Mungo Jerry) and Frank Turner, with prizes including thousands of pounds worth of recording gear. Finally, musicians can enter the Best Live Performance competition, where prizes include a day of recording at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios and a professional level PA package.

Absolute Music moved into the 24,000-square foot music superstore and studios complex in 2012 with dedicated showrooms across two floors for guitars, amps and effects; DJ & live sound; synths & keyboards; hi-tech and drums. There’s also an in-house Guitar Workshop, gear hire department, a climate-controlled acoustic guitar room, four guitar booths, two soundproofed drum booths, Support & Service Centre, plus space and staging to hold regular workshops and events. The on-site recording and rehearsal studios are always in high demand with local musicians, not to mention the attached cafe, serving hot and cold food and drink to visitors 7 days a week. Absolute Music’s store and studios has become the place to try and buy music gear, as well as record, rehearse, play, learn and chat about music!
