Ethereal

Ethereal is a new project of Swedish born Thai transgender solo artist Waritsara “Yui” Karlberg, it is quite a musical departure from anything that Yui has done previously. Yui has been writing songs and experimenting with music since the tender age of 15, playing in a host of bands including “16 Bit Consoles”, “Silicon Sun” and more recently “The Subwave Network UK”. Ethereal began as Yui Karlberg in 2012 after hearing Bon Iver’s debut album “For Emma, Forever Ago” and afterwards thinking it was time to create a new sound.

Ethereal sees Yui exploring her vocal capabilities with a surreal futuristic style that combines strings and keys. The inspirations come from artists like Anthony & The Johnsons, London Grammar and Portishead. The music is a passionate outlet for someone who has initially struggled to fit into our modern, sometimes cruel prejudiced society. Yui has an exuberant delivery and is very adventurous, pushing boundaries into uncharted territories. The latest tune by Ethereal is ambitious and a style that certainly is an acquired taste, but through continuous exploration just maybe something brilliant will surface.

Written and produced by Ethereal Music except for piano parts by Jenna Dick.
Recorded, mixed and mastered by Jenna Dick at Freestyle Studio, Dorset.
