Black Star Riders

Black Star Riders unveil their surprise new single “Candidate for Heartbreak” this month. The song originally appeared as a bonus track on the Digipack CD included with the box-set and limited to 1,000 copies, from the band’s latest record “Another State Of Grace”. The release gives a much wider audience the chance of hearing a tune that without doubt should have made it on to the album. 2020 has clearly shaped up to be a very different year to what the band had all expected. COVID-19 has taken us by surprise forcing us all to pause, rethink our way of life and observe an unprecedented scenario unravelling on the World’s stage.

The song is an intricately created driven Rock track; where the band use all their rudiments of driving rhythms, infectious guitar riffs and Ricky Warwick’s unmistakable vocals to bring a tower of a tune. The tune sets the scene towards a class of politicians who keep lying to the people and a morbid system that keeps on failing and dividing. It’s the band’s contribution to the worldwide reflection on society during these unparalleled times.

Scott Gorham further explains: “The song brings back memories of our time in the studio recording “Another State of Grace”, it was such a great and productive time. We all hope to be back playing to our fans real soon”. “Guitarist Christian Martucci adds: “This is a really fun song to jam. I love how the guitars drone around Ricky’s vocals, and the awesome groove from Chad and Robbie!”

As a previous bonus track, the song could have easily got lost in the band’s archive; however releasing it as a single brings it to the forefront and it’s a tune that hopefully will get selected to be played live when the band start touring again, once this global situation allows.
