Scenius are back with new single “Beat The Light”, single two of a collection of four. Keeping with the template of Fab’s delicate and measured tones over Steve’s keys perfection (I shall dispense with my usual adjectives and just say that) I hope they receive some long overdue airplay – this single has the hallmark of something one might want to listen to at home after a “hard day’s graft” as a form of relaxation. It rarely deviates from the main keys section and I guess that’s what sets it apart from their other material.
The intro (IMO) is overlong but I’m guessing it’s about setting the scene, and keeping one guessing? The visuals in the accompanying video are truly wonderful and perfectly fit the mood. This isn’t so much Club Classic, more Lounge Chill Music!!! Is that even a genre, it is now?! With punters of a certain age still seeking out a Nostalgia Trip by seeing those early Electronica bands from the 80’s, it’s refreshing once again to hear an original duo pushing the envelope and coming up with fresh new material. This Synth/Pop duo are a force to be reckoned with, surely their time isn’t far away… time will tell
