South Coast Punk-Pop quartet return after the release of last years debut album Romance & Ricochets; with the release of some brand new material. The band went into the local Clubhouse Studio, Bournemouth with the help of Pash Stratton who Produced, Recorded, Mixed & Mastered the tracks. The two tracks to come out of these sessions are “Something New” and “Over Emotional”. The first has already been released and the track has started earning accolades with BBC Radio Solent awarding it track of the week. The second track will be readied and released in the coming months. The tracks also introduce the band’s latest recruit, guitarist Hugo Harrison.
“Something New” explores the concept of looking over relationships and realising that some people are just incompatible, as hard as you may work on it, but that experience nevertheless opens your eyes to what matters to you when moving on to something new. Pash Stratton has certainly done an impressive job getting the band’s ideas together as the final result represents a fine piece of work. The track opens with a pulsing sound, a little like the time pips you hear on the radio. Chris’s super smooth voice and the instrumentation initially smoulders teasingly, before the tempo radically changes as the bass, drums and electric guitars kick in. The “Give it all that you Got” chorus is extremely infectious and grabs you and won’t let you go. The momentum of the track is beguiling and gives you everything you would expect from a track of this genre.
