It’s the Sunday before the 1st May Bank holiday and people have no excuse for getting along to Mr Kyps for their “Gig For A Quid” night, this regular event showcases two local bands along with emerging bands from further a field with the very reasonable entry fee of just one English pound. Tonight’s event features “The Brompton Mix” from Woking in Surrey along with opening band “Lucky 13” and headliners “Eleven IV” for what promises to be an eclectic night of live music.

Steve Grantley is best known for being the legendary hard hitting sticks man with iconic punk band Stiff Little Fingers, he has also worked with many other acts including The Alarm, Oleta Adams, Julian Lennon, The Clash and Patsy Kensit’s 80’s pop band Eighth Wonder. He also has written a couple of books including “Who By Numbers” a detailed account of virtually every song by The Who along with another about 70’s Glam rock band Slade.

Hailing from San Sadurnio in the province of A Corua in the autonomous community of Galicia in northwestern Spain. This band have set their sights high and with release of this second album, Awen just might get the recognition they deserve. Taking the brave decision to sing in English like their compatriots Eldorado, rather than their native tongue, will surely see them make an impression in the European rock scene.
