Dorset singer/songwriter Jack Spooner aka “Nory J” continues the momentum of original singles with the release this month of “418”. Jack explains “the song was written around the same time as my first two singles way back in late 2021. Room 418 was the hotel room that I realised I had grown in a different direction to the person I had loved the most.
It’s raw in production, with very real live instruments, telling the story of observed immaturity, identity and social behaviours. 4 1 8 is one of the first songs I wrote under my Nory-J alias, and relives the night I knew I had grown apart from the “love of my life”. I experienced my vision clouding ‘outside-in’ like a burnt film at the realisation, so I wanted the song to be raw in instrumentation compared to my other records”. The track was produced by the infamous Guy Courtie of my two most streamed records “Irrelevant, Benevolent”, and “Future Days”.
Let’s just say Jack is one of the most passionate musicians that I have come across and his creations seem to be getting better and better as time goes on. He performs live in many versatile formats: solo, duo, full band or as a trio like his recent successful gig at Wimborne Folk Festival. He’s a very proactive chap who has earned himself plenty of radio play and some notable support slots.
The new single shows the artist baring his soul and putting down his most personal feelings about a subject dear to him. With it’s simplistic reassuring guitar work meandering gently along with Jack’s ardent vocal delivery, the tune puts us right amongst the tenderness and emotions portrayed.
