Powdered Cows

In the mood for something a little different? A little off-kilter? A little strange? Well look no further! Christchurch based musician Martin Roberts and his band of zany friends produce a bizarre mixture of lifting melodies and electronic beats, dispersed with random sounds from various second hand children’s instruments and toys purchased from local car boot sales.

CD: “Don’t Ask” By The Peacocks

The Peacocks

Straight out of Switzerland comes the new album, “Don’t Ask”, by The Peacocks, and it’s like a lock in at your local pub. From the moment its bassline kicks off, the guitar comes in, and the vocals sneer out “What I Want”, all the way to the end with “I Shouldn’t Bring Up What I Can’t Put Down”, you know you are in for a good time! There is no mistaking the rockabilly stylings, the hefty dollop of psychobilly, rhythms, and cracking bass line, and annoylingly catchy melodies.

The Brook, Southampton

Jefferson Starship

It was a cool October evening as we climbed of the motorcycle’s and made our way into the Brook. In a refreshing change of circumstance we found we were part of the “young” minority in the room. Which is hardly surprising, as we were here to see Jefferson Starship. A band that has been through many name changes over the years and which actually performed at the legendary Woodstock concert in 1969, under the Jefferson Airplane moniker.

The Joiners, Southampton

Nine Black Alps

It’s Sunday night and the Joiners is less than half full for tonight’s openers The Lost Souls Club. Hailing from Southampton they open with the quite brilliant “Jesus”. Heavy drums are accompanied by an equally heavy bass and some clangy guitars. Joe (vox/guitar) has a powerful voice, which is just as well considering the wall of noise being made around him.
