New Cross Inn, London

Peter & The Test Tube Babies

On a cold Winters night & a rare jaunt to London (for me), I arrive just as Londoners “The Tang” are soundchecking. A confident 4 piece they open proceedings shortly after and continue with a great set of original material.

Bad Touch

With a tremendous rocking sound these guys where there inspirations on their sleeves with pride. Hailing from Norfolk they have recently produced their “Live at the Mill” EP. So if you like your rock from the same vein as Thunder, The Little Angels, and Gun ‘n Roses (the good stuff!), then look no further. More importantly they have supported Bournemouths very own Voodoo Vegas.

CD: “Conduit” by Funeral For A Friend

Funeral For A Friend

After a mighty twelve years as a band, South Wales post hardcore outfit; Funeral For a Friend have churned out their sixth studio effort “Conduit” with the most potent change to previous records resulting from the substitution of ex Rise To Remain drummer Pat Lundy for veteran Ryan Richards. Although some might assume this would have stripped the band of their scream led tenacity, Lundyís thundering performance on this record hints that this change has spawned a new dimension for the band rather than wound them.

Orange Goblin/The Admiral Sir Cloudesley Shovell/The Earl of Mars/Dendera

Talking Heads, Southampton

Orange Goblin

Friday night gigs are my favourite. Work all day then go out and see some quality bands, gets the weekend off to a blinding start! Dendera started the evening off good and proper, with their power metal tunes blasting out and getting heads a nodding. They have improved considerably since I last saw them and things look bright for the Southampton outfit.

Joe Perkins

Based in Bristol is Joe Perkins, and he seems to be a musician with unlimited capability. Drawing on influences from Vai, and Satriani, and a host of others, he has produced any amazing debut album to show-case his talents, although this is not a collection of guitar noodling tracks.

…and what is even more amazing is that he is giving it away!
