EP: “The Settling” By Veetacore

Veetacore

Local female-fronted Pop-Punkers Veetacore have got a new 5 Track EP out called “The Settling” and its really rather good! On opener “Sliced Waters” there’s a simple beat throughout the song with a clever little synth section accompanying the “electro” drum sound. The highest compliment I can pay singer Becky is that her vocal reminds me of a pop version of “Die So Fluid’s” vocalist Grog. For a singer so young she has good range for this style of music. Lyrically the song isn’t pulling up any trees but is a decent opener.

InMe

When it comes to making releases independently, there are a few things which should be taken into account; your fan base, your commitment and your direction. Luckily, InMe seem to have all three of these factors locked down to a tee, as their latest album “The Pride” was funded to a level of three hundred percent of the required amount via the ever increasingly popular website, Pledge Music. After their last studio album “Herald Moth” was released back in 2009, it was inevitable that fans would be desperate to found out what InMe had to offer in 2012.

Mark Chadwick front man of the Levellers Live and acoustic at Mr. Kyps in Poole Thursday 5th April 2012

Mark Chadwick

Mark Chadwick is one of the UK’s most successful songwriters. With his band, The Levellers, he has co-written 20 chart singles and 4 top 40 albums. Usually seen gallivanting across the globe with The Levellers on a seemingly never ending 20 year tour, he will take time out for this special one-off solo show. This will be a set of Levellers songs handpicked by the man himself, classics alongside some less well known tracks, material from his solo album ‘All The Pieces’ and you may even hear a couple of new songs from upcoming album ‘Static On The Airwaves’.

EP: “The Sabres” by The Sabres

The Sabres

The Sabres is a new 3 Track EP, a forth-coming taster for their new album.

Bournemouth Punk/Rock outfit The Sabres have a new EP out which has fallen into the hands of Rock Regeneration for review. On “Shade of Light” the guitars are very “Post/Punk” and I’m hearing a smidgeon of U2’s “I Will Follow” in the chords! The vocals are a nod toward Billie-Joe but that’s where the influences stop.

The Boy Royals

The Boy Royals, formerly known as Town have released a new single which I have gratefully accepted the opportunity to review. This Newport based band celebrate all things British with their “Britbeat” – influenced sound. On new single “Voice of the Future” there’s an unmistakable nod in the direction of the Enemy with the vocal, all swagger and grit.

Steel Panther

Steel Panther announce their biggest UK Tour to date in November 2012, including a date at Southampton Guildhall on 14th November 2012

The headline news is this: Steel Panther genuinely rock. The crowd absolutely adores them – The Independant On Sunday.

Their polished second album is certainly a musical match for any of the hard rocking legends it affectionately spoofs – Classic Rock.

No one else, neither the legends nor the young pretenders ae making records as good as this – Metal Hammer.

Lower Lands

When you listen to a British band, it’s always refreshing to hear that all-so-familiar accent that most British vocalists hide. Lower Lands from Lincoln, UK, have just that.

Lower Lands consist of Benji (Guitar, vocals), Paul (Guitar, vocals), Jacob (Bass, vocals) and Sam (Drums, vocals).
