Mr Kyps, Poole

20th July 2011

Tonight is one of Kyps ever popular in the round gigs featuring none other than Indie legend & Inspiral Carpets frontman Tom Hingley. Tonight’s opener though is local boy Dan Gordon, a confident singer with a great voice & a clutch decent songs. He quickly reminds us this is 2nd gig here before his first song which I believe is called “Make Time For Me/You” which is followed by The Beatles “Hide Your Love Away”. Dan encourages the crowd to enter his competition to be the first to buy him a beer-Alex (Fearne) duly obliges.

I’ve had the pleasure of seeing this band play live a few times the past couple of years and they put on a full-bloodied rock show, always giving 100% every gig. So I couldn’t wait to get my grubby mitts on their first studio effort Truckload of Trouble!

Champions, Bournemouth

A wet Friday night at Champions but our spirits are not dampened by tonights offering,2 great bands with differing styles. First up are local ‘boys’ Voice of Reason. Having made a decent impression on the local scene as And The Magic 8-Ball Band they now play under the moniker Voice of Reason-same line-up,bigger sound. It would be hard to pidgeonhole these guys but their influences are worn firmly on their sleeves.

on July 14th, 2011 at 19:54
Posted In: CD, Reviews, Jon

MG and the Juggernauts are a hard rock four piece from Bournemouth formed in 2009, who have been getting, and deservedly so, great reviews. Here at RR towers we have been able to get to listen to their 3 track “The Dream EP”. With an original sounding, powerful, yet melodic brand of rock, which has had them supporting The Lost Prophets at the Hard Rock Cafe with Activision for “Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock”, and getting to the finals of the Star Sensations “Battle of the Bands” (2010).

Champions, Bournemouth

It is Wednesday night and local Dorset Hampshire promoter Jurassic Mark has put together a promising line up of four great bands, who all on paper have something very different to offer. The 1st of these is pop/punksters from Portsmouth called ‘Midday Committee’ who kick of the evening in style with apparently a high energy spirited set, I say apparently as I only saw their last number as I was kept late at work, but my Rock Regeneration colleagues who were present say they were suitably entertained their set.

This is the 11th Grooves on the Green that has taken place in Ashley Cross green in Parkstone, which is a small suburb of the seaside town of Poole.
