Empire Affair

Bournemouth town is a town that just keeps on giving and giving, virtually every week there is a charity event put on the raise funds for a worthy causes, tonight’s fundraiser is at On The Rocks, the organisers are raising money for earthquake recovery in Peru. The funds are being raised by the entrance money as all of tonight’s acts have given their time for free, as well as kind donations from audience.

Every now and then, a new band pops out of nowhere with a fresh sound and intelligent prospects. Luckily Monty can cling to this tag, as despite only spawning this Summer, they have already managed to play a few shows and put down their ideas in the studio. I was sent four tracks by the New Forest based trio and I have to say I am impressed.

Straight out of Switzerland comes the new album, “Don’t Ask”, by The Peacocks, and it’s like a lock in at your local pub. From the moment its bassline kicks off, the guitar comes in, and the vocals sneer out “What I Want”, all the way to the end with “I Shouldn’t Bring Up What I Can’t Put Down”, you know you are in for a good time! There is no mistaking the rockabilly stylings, the hefty dollop of psychobilly, rhythms, and cracking bass line, and annoylingly catchy melodies.
