Luke Leighfield

Arriving at Rock Regeneration a week or so ago came “New Season”, with a little note hoping that we enjoy it. A nice start to the day. Mind you, it is always with a little fear I listen to unknown [to me] artists. What if I don’t like it? What if I think it misses the mark?

Constellation

Thomas Tripp, Christchurch

Constellation

It’s all quiet in the Thomas Tripp as “Constellation” are tuning up for their first appearance at this venue. As its my local I have come to see how they fare in front of a sparse “locals” crowd. Constellation’s regular massive female following seems to have deserted them tonight but they soldier on. Tonight’s set is largely culled from their extensive back catalogue with a smattering of covers thrown in for good measure.

Reading Hexagon

Big Country

In April 1986, one of the best live music television shows of that time ‘The Old Grey Whistle Test’ recorded Big Country live from the Reading Hexagon as the band were part way through the “Seer Tour”, this broadcast came at the height of the band’s popularity and the recording acts as a reminder of how great this band were when fronted by the late great Stuart Adamson.

Evolver

Finalists in last years Dorset Music Awards “Evolver” have just released their much anticipated debut EP entitled “Sci-Fi Queen”. The four piece Bournemouth band describe themselves as progressive rock, but their is certainly more to them than this. Firstly the have amongst them one of the most talented guitarist’s I have ever witnessed on the local music scene. Ed Graves who is completely natural talent that comes alive when he is on stage, in the studio or anytime that he has a guitar in his hands.

Dorset Music Awards

It’s a freezing cold Friday at The Winchester but it hasn’t put off a near capacity crowd for what is the first of this years Dorset Music Awards Quarter Finals hosted by Trevor Hill. First on is Jack Grace. He and his band play simple low-fi poppy indie. They appear very young but this is no obstacle.
