The Brook, Southampton

Well, if there is one thing Rock music fans wish for down south, it’s a stop on the latest tour by Bradford’s finest Terrorvision. Opening for them are Gentlemans Pistols: every prog-rockers dream! Take your pick from any prog from back in the day, throw in a little Wolfmother & you are somewhere near with these guys. Their attire is somewhat anti-fashion (vests)-however,they do sport long hair & beards! Their genre is totally lost on this reviewer, although I cannot knock their talent.

Glamour Of The Kill/Shadows Chasing Ghosts/Prolong the Agony

Joiners Arms, Southampton

Glamour of the Kill certainly don’t do things by halves, tonight’s show is part of a massive 30 date UK tour is support of the band’s debut album ‘The Summoning’. The four piece metal core band from York are riding on a ever growing wave of success as each of the dates progresses. The Joiners tonight is packed full of expectant fans after several previous colossal performances here have shown what a force that the band really is. I think quite possibly this tour may well be one of the last times fans get to see the band in smaller venues such as this.

Swedish Rockers Europe return to Bournemouth once again after their successful show here last year (also in February). The band are making the stop as part of the 2011 nine date ‘Ball & Banners’ tour of the UK. There is probably very few music fans on the planet that have not heard the band’s biggest hit ‘The Final Countdown’, as well as this the band have created eight studio albums and have sold over 20 million albums worldwide.

iBar, Bournemouth

The ‘Rock Sound Exposure’ tour is a way for Rock Sound magazine to give us a preview of some of the best upcoming talent in the UK by selecting three bands to travel across the country. Their second stop was at Champions in Bournemouth, but sadly, due to Champions having ceiling problems, the gig was moved to iBar which I felt was a better suited venue for the grunge fueled line-up rock sound have provided for the tour.

The Feeling/Wallis Bird

Wedgewood Rooms, Portsmouth

The Feeling have been busy writing new material and have been away from the public eye for quite a while now, they feel the time is right now to get out on a tour of intimate venues to try out their new material in front of their fans. The band are used to playing much larger venues, so this show at Portsmouth Wedgewood Rooms is a rare treat for the Sold Out capacity crowd of just 450 people.

Ocean Colour Scene/Pint Shot Riot

Southampton Guildhall

The Brit pop scene of the 1990’s produced many great albums and ‘Moseley Shoals’ has got to up there as one of the best. It was an album that catapulted Ocean Colour Scene from a small suburb of Birmingham to rubbing shoulders with the likes of Oasis, Blur and Paul Weller. The album was recently voted Q Magazine’s 33rd greatest album of all time which is high praise indeed. The band are currently on a tour of the UK playing the album in full every night to a host of packed venues.
