Lulworth Castle

Camp bestival

A day before it all kicks off proper the party atmosphere had started Thursday night. Whilst walking around the venue in the dark it was hard to see just how far the campsite stretched but the lights seemed to go on and on, and while access to the main “field” was restricted, the eateries nearer the main campsites were open.

New Riot

As far as ska punk goes, you won’t find too many bands like New Riot. This brass pumping, punk rock roller coaster has certainly had an interesting journey building up to the release of their new EP, “Raising The Stakes”. After touring with ska punk legends Reel Big Fish, the band shifted numerous copies of their more ska punk rooted material and devised a new plan; to create an EP which combines pop punk and ska punk in a manner to tickle the taste buds of a wider range of fans.

Jefferson starship

Back in the swirling mists of time…1972 to be precise! A band that had played at Monterey, Woodstock, with the Rolling Stones at the infamous Altamont concert and shared the bill numerous times with the Grateful Dead and the legendary Janis Joplin…dissolved. That band was Jefferson Airplane but in true sci-fi style, ex members Paul Kantner and David Freiberg re-styled the airplane and launched again with some new members: vocalist Cathy Richardson, lead guitarist Slick Aguilar, drummer Donny Baldwin and keyboardist/bassist Chris Smith as Jefferson Starship.

The Anvil, Bournemouth

Sansara

Ok, first a confession. I went out to The Anvil Rockbar to see my mate Bear, catch up with some friends and sink a few cold ones. I didn’t have any intention of reviewing, so I didn’t take my big Canon camera as I fully intended to be steaming by the end of the evening.

Mr. Kyps, Poole

The Hoosiers

Once again the relentless work that goes on at Mr. Kyps helped to secure a booking of certain importance, as the once album chart topping, “The Hoosiers” made their way to the small seaside town of Poole in an effort to prove to their south coast fan base that they are still capable of firing on all cylinders.

“You can’t kill The Metal, The Metal will live on” – Jack Black – Tenacious D

Beyond Betrayal

…and it’s true, heavy metal, for all of its ridiculous sub-genres (Post grunge hardcore deathpunkcore, I mean really?) has survived in some form of another, and I’m always gunna have a little bit of time for the heavier side of music.
